Born in central China, grew up in Taiwan. I am the youngest of 4 children. Both my parents were artists, my father being an internationally known watercolorist. From my earliest days they provided me with a keen appreciation of art.
I graduated from Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, majored in illustration and design. I have had a long and rewarding career as a product designer in gifts, toys, serve ware and home décor fields as well as an illustrator.
Now I am semi-retired from commercial work, I paint all the time and love it. I am exploring different methods, materials, styles as well as subject matters. I mainly paint with oil, either on canvas, linen, panel or marble dust gesso panel. Egg tempera painting is something new for me. I find the materials and method intriguing, and the result unique.
I also enjoy drawing a lot. Drawing with charcoal reminds me of writing Chinese calligraphy. Drawing works well with negative and positive spaces in a composition.
